Cab Polishing

STEP 1
|
| For the final polish, thoroughly wash your cab with water, dry and check its appearance. If needed, touch up any missed or flawed areas of the cab by returning to the sanding process. Proceed to the polishing wheel or machine. Turn on the machine and spray the wheel and your cab with cerium oxide mix. Use mild pressure against the wheel. Continue to keep wheel and cab wet with cerium oxide mix. |

STEP 2

| Check often for polish condition. Do not overheat the stone by letting it run dry, or by putting too much pressure against the wheel. The cerium oxide will cake up on the stone and it or too much heat may cause the cab to break or crack, or the wax bond to let loose. This could ruin you cab. |

STEP 3

| Once you have achieved your desired polish, turn off wheel. Wash and thoroughly dry to check polish stage. If satisfied, place in freezer for 10 to 15 minutes, then peel the wax off of your stone. If a higher polish is desired, try hand polishing with a soft cloth and tin oxide, bruce bar or other polishing compound. Some cabs and stones are best polished on wood medium with tin oxide, or diamond paste. See instructor for use of diamond paste or powder polishes. |
