Thanks for visiting us today! $We hope you enjoy your visit.

We are a lapidary arts, paleontology, geology, gemology, rockhounding, and jewelry making club. The Montgomery Gem & Mineral Society was organized several years ago. We are an organization dedicated to the advancement and enjoyment of the earth sciences and associated subjects. Its primary purpose is the exchange of information and the furtherance of knowledge of Mineralogy, Fossils, Geology, Lapidary Arts and to stimulate interest in the development of these studies. Please, look around our website, you will find all sorts of interesting information. If you are not a member already, we hope you join. For more information please contact us. Based in Montgomery, in the River Region area of Alabama, the group was originally formed in Montgomery – so it's been around for a while. We have beginners that know absolutely nothing, except what they may have learned on TV shows like "Prospectors", "Gold Rush", "Gold Fever" or "Ice Cold Gold". In addition to beginners, we have many formally trained geologists. So it's a great way for people to get together who have a passion for rocks, gems, and minerals. We have monthly meetings with various guest speakers. During the spring, summer and fall months, we organize many field trips to various local areas and different mining claims for people to try their hand at prospecting for specific minerals. We are very family friendly. We have many members with children, and some of our field trips are a great way for the family to spend quality time together in nature. We welcome and encourage all visitors to come to our monthly meetings. We now meet at 7:00 pm at the Perry Hill Methodist Church at the intersection of Perry Hill Road and Harrison Road in the fellowship hall. Time: 7:00 PM. We also plan to have some announcements about the shop and anticipated field trips for this upcoming year as well as discussing this years gem show, so please attend our next club meeting.
